Jill may have been born in the United Kingdom, but New Zealand has converted this one-time Pom in to a true blue Kiwi passionate about its people, landscape and culture. Growing up with a mother who sewed for "all the family", Jill was destined for a career filled with creativity.
In 1989 Jill began working from home producing silk products which she sold through craft shows. Now Jill and an in-house staff of five create an array of products from a small rural factory and supply both the national and international market. With a growing number of local manufacturers being forced to go off shore, we pride ourselves with being New Zealand made and sourcing local raw materials and supplies where possible. With a design team and screen printing facility on site, Jill Main New Zealand Ltd has also managed to create pieces that are unique and special by remaining true to our roots and having a hand made feel and look to our products, rather than mass produced.
The New Zealand landscape is our main source of inspiration and is evident when you see the choice of tactile fabrics and imagery used
in our designs. Each range reflects the natural beauty that can only be found in our precious country, "Aotearoa". Our popular merino and cotton clothing ranges are based around simple garment construction, mostly casual wear, but reflect the New Zealand lifestyle - laid back and relaxed!
One of our goals at Jill Main New Zealand Ltd is to use more environmentally-friendly materials within our factory operations and manufacturing. As a better option we have always used an aqueous, solvent free colour ink for our screenprinted products and we are excited to be launching screenprinted "organic cotton" tee shirts later this year.
